The Boeing 747 does not need a lot of introducing. It is perhaps one of the most iconic figures in aviation history. The US made quad engine jumbo jet is dubbed the Queen of the Skies. It was first introduced in commercial service with Pan American World Airways on the 22nd of January, 1970. It became the largest passenger jet of the time and could carry the most passengers. It held the record for the next 37 years until the A380 was introduced. Flying till date, it has dozens of variants and modifications. With civilian, cargo and military uses across the world, the distinctive hump makes it one of the most easily recognized airplanes flying today.
