Northwest Airlines Flight 705 was a US scheduled domestic passenger flight between Miami International Airport in Miami, Florida, to Spokane International Airport in Washington. It had one stopover in O’Hare International Airport in Illinois. On the 12th of February, 1963, the flight was being operated by a Boeing 720 type quad jet airliner. It was carrying 35 passengers and 8 crew.
Flight 705 broke up mid-air and crashed into the Florida Everglades not long after take-off. 43 occupants of the airplane died in the crash.
The subsequent investigations conducted by the NTSB concluded that the aircraft disintegrated mid-air due to the large varying forces encountered. The flight crew encountered severe weather on the route and the turbulence forced the plane to change its attitude so rapidly that the fuselage could not take the loads and hence, broke up.
