Airbus is taking the lead in commercial airplane manufacturing with innovation. The recent developments in their modified versions of Airbus A320 family, A330s, and the latest model Airbus A350 are proving that technology has no limits. On December 18th, 2019, Airbus delivered its first Airbus A350 equipped with touch screens in the cockpit.
The touchscreens are available on EFB’s (electronic flight bags) and central display screens also known as flight management systems or computers. This new feature will be available to the airlines and clients as an additional option. The new feature will allow better interaction in the cockpit which will enable better experience to the pilots and eventually improve the efficiency. Airbus has claimed that it has around 20 for this additional feature.
“Airbus continues to set the industry trends in aircraft cockpit design with these new interactive touchscreen displays in the A350. With our partner Thales we are very proud to bring this technology to our customers, to enhance their aircrews’ operations.” said Patrick Piedrafita, Head of Airbus’ A350 XWB Programme.
The first Airbus A350 with touchscreens is delivered to China Southern Airlines A350-900 bearing registration B-30CW.
